The role is a DC-DC Power Development Engineer position in the Lenovo Datacenter Product Group (DCG), based out of Morrisville, North Carolina. This is an exciting role in the Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter. Opportunities on the team include developing innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs.
As a Power Engineer on this team, you will be responsible for power subsystems from concept to production. This includes component selection, schematic design, simulation, support of PCB layout floor-planning/routing and qualification. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands now and in the future. The role also offers solving unique client challenges through the custom development of solutions and direct engagement with customers. This candidate will become an active member of the development team that is highly motivated to engage, understand and solve the technical challenges of today and shape the server designs of tomorrow.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in power electronics design, simulation, validation and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Power Engineering or a related engineering field.
- x86 server design experience is preferred.
- Experience with various engineering tools, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, simulated load and signal generators.
- 5+ year of experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation and the support of Physical Design activity.
- Experience with synchronous buck or point-of-load voltage regulators, CPU/Memory VRD design and qualification.
- Proficiency in Cadence Allegro and Sigrity PowerSI tools.
- Collaboration experience on projects across a global development organization.
- Strong teamwork experience to co-develop server subsystems with a team of highly motivated engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, including customer engagements, cross-functional defect investigation, and executive updates.
