Lenovo’s Design Innovation Team is responsible for the industrial design of our products. With studios in Yokohama, Beijing, and the Research Triangle in North Carolina, we are truly a global team. The Design Innovation team believes that design is not just about how the product looks, but about the entire experience that a person has with our product. So we research, brainstorm, sketch, test, and prototype all in pursuit of delivering a perfect experience to our customers, supporting brand identity, with captivating aesthetics.

By joining our team, you will contribute your fresh perspective and unique skillset to the design of our products and to the culture of our team. You‘ll carry your product designs all the way from initial user research through checking production samples to mass production, alongside other designers, engineers, marketing, and CMF teams. To thrive here you’ll be a compelling communicator with the ability to view products from a big-picture wholistic view, as well as a detail-oriented hyper-focused view. You’ll be able to inspire marketing as well as dig into mechanics with engineering.

  • Excellent communication skills and storytelling to communicate design thinking, presenting to all levels of company leadership
  • Ability to build relationships and appropriately influence Lenovo-internal teams and direct business contacts to achieve short- and long-term goals.
  • Understand latest consumer electronics manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Possess a mind for brand identity and how design decisions contribute to brand.
  • Well-versed in user-centered design methods and techniques
  • Ability to imagine and define end-to-end user experiences beyond just hardware
  • 2D skills: excellent sketching, fluent in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
  • 3D skills: fluent in Solidworks and Keyshot
  • Shop Skills: Quickly build accurate study models, proof of concepts, prototypes, operate 3D printers as part of your design workflow

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Industrial Design or similar field
  • 1+ years relevant experience in industrial design including colors, materials & finishes, design strategy, ideally in a consumer electronic
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe CS, Keyshot or similar rendering software, and Solidworks or Rhino.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Collaborative team player, Self-motivated, pro-active thinker
  • Good verbal and written skills in English
  • Ability to travel to international sites
This role will be based in our North America HQ in Raleigh, NC.  This position will be hybrid - working onsite in our labs and working from home.
