The candidate selected for this position will become an important part of the Infrastructure Solutions Group Systems Architecture Board, responsible for the design, development and implementation of all ThinkSystem servers, with a strong focus on mechanical solution to support whole product portfolio.  As a member of this team, you will engage with some of the industry’s most influential experts and work with the most important technology companies. The successful candidate will be a proven technical leader and innovator, with high energy and passion for leading our global engineering teams.

The candidate selected for this position will become an important part of the Infrastructure Solutions Group Systems Architecture Board, responsible for the design, development and implementation of all ThinkSystem servers, with a strong focus on mechanical solution to support whole product portfolio.. 

Job Details:

•   Drive system architecture with a focus on mechanical solution to accommodate the latest technology and system solution,  and provide deep expertise on new mechanical solution feasibility and reliability, material, rack level solution integration, liquid cooled solution integration, component mechanical spec for ISG server products.

•   Lead the server system mechanical roadmap maintenance to drive 3-5 years mechanical solution and system/component formfactor planning

•   Review and approve component and system mechanical specifications across product portfolio

•   Review system designs with customers and partners to establish an “outside-in” view

•   Collaborate closely with marketing, system architect for product portfolio definition, and lead the mechanical solution design for conceptional deliverable.

•   Review and approve System mechanical design

•   Identify server mechanical critical technical skills and support key talent training for technical leadership.

•  Key partner and industry committee strategy communication to track and influence server system mechanical industry trend.

•   Review and approve test plans to ensure mechanical reliability assurance

•   Ensure the correct implementation of functions and achievement of customer experience goals

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• 10+ years’ experience serving as mechanical technical leader or architect for large engineering team on multiple formfactor server product development.

Server experience required 

• Expert knowledge of multiple server product system layout and mechanical solution design.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expert in Creo, Windchill SW application for product design

• Experience creating multiple server product mechanical solution and reference designs

• Ability to think broadly, to assess and clearly communicate design tradeoffs, including cost, performance, quality, serviceability and customer experience.

• Ability to work as agile, creative thinker with a strong understanding of both business and technical aspects of systems design.

• Demonstrated success in collaborating and providing cross-functional leadership and build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

• Self-starter that can operate with a high degree of autonomy with an ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a complex, high growth environment.

• Utmost levels of integrity and professionalism.

• Broad knowledge of system design, including Power, Thermal and Mechanical.

• Experience designing systems to support high TDP accelerators, including GPUs, FPGAs, OAM, liquid cooled solution

• Executive presence: comfortable making executive-level presentations, navigate complex and complicated situations, and able to positively influence multiple stakeholders.


The base salary range for this position in Colorado is $200,000 - $240,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonus. Lenovo's various benefits can be found on www.lenovobenefits.com
