Description and Requirements

 Lenovo /Motorola Mobility is seeking a highly talented & motivated researcher in wireless communications and standardization to join our world-class wireless research group. This role is for recent college graduates and will have a target start date of Summer 2023. The role is located in Chicago, IL and onsite presence is required.

 Basic Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (Masters/PhD.) is required with major in wireless communication and signal processing. PhD. candidates within their last 6 months of PhD. program with an exemplary track record (e.g., conference/journal publications and citations) are also highly encouraged to apply.
  • Solid understanding of wireless fundamentals including digital communication methods, signal processing, information theory, channel modeling, channel coding, digital and hybrid MIMO architectures.
  • Proven track record of strong analytical skills and excellent grasp of one or more areas including, but not limited to, massive MIMO, mmWave communication, beamforming concepts, codebook design, radio signaling design and protocols such as MAC.

 Additional Requirements:

  • Strong programming experience in Matlab, C
  • Ability to develop simulation tools such as link level/system level simulator
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

 What will you be doing:

  • Identify and lead at least one long term research topic in Beyond 5G/6G related to waveform, channel coding, modulation, massive MIMO for mmWave/sub-Tera Hertz frequency, intelligent reflective surface, radio sensing etc.
  • Design improvements to the PHY/MAC radio architecture for Beyond 5G/6G system related to Extreme URLLC, Time sensitive networking, mesh network, XR, Zero energy devices, support of various Media transport, etc.,
  • Contribute to 3GPP, European projects, Next G alliance; NGMN etc., in various forms (such as contributions, email-discussions, etc.), engage in discussions and defend our proposals with solid technical reasoning
  • Implement novel solutions in the state-of-art link/system level simulator
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a multi-site, multi-cultural team environment
